heroin and alcohol

Debate seems to have dried up recently so I thought I'd try to start a new argument, see if it interests anyone. Here goes: Should we take drugs, from alcohol to LSD and heroin? Most people take some kind of drug, so I think its something you'd expect people to think about.

Also LSD and Mushrooms can potentially open up 'interesting' experiences, if not philosophical insight, so maybe its different for diff' drugs, I don't know. Everyone thinks its alright to drink but most people wouldn't say do coke, or even mushrooms, is this justified or merely conformity to social convention? You could argue we live in a 'drugs culture' anyway [e.g consumerism, mass culture, which are arg' based on immediate s-term satisfaction, like drugs]. Any thoughts?
