what is philosophy - drawing the line

ok, i accept that nothing is black and white, so to speak, but any descriptive term exists on the basis that it is what other things are not.

if a term can be applied to everytihng it loses all value, the idea 'green' is only meaningful cos there exist objects which do not possess that quality. if we cannot distinguish when a term is applied it loses all validity.

hence my thinking was thus, what does philosophy do that other disciplines do not
if you accept that philosophy is a discipline then it must exist by not having content similarity with other disciplines.

however, i accept that things do merge...
