Bernie, 

to clarify my point about referring to physical stuff. i just mean that philosophers talk about ideas using ideas whereas physicists talk about sense-datum or potential sense-datum. yes i grant that sometimes the more complex string theories and crazy stuff seems so other-worldly that it seems to lapse inot my criterion but i still think theyre talking about something physical, whereas a philosopher does not.

btw, if ur keen on finding a book that will 'blow ur mind' try Liza Randall's "Warped Passages: Unravelling the Mysteries of the Universe's Hidden Dimensions"... 

 - all about how we can find evidence for addiditional dimensions by tracking atoms and noting energy levels... hmmm...
