Re: Philosophical Films

why is that a non-academic philosophical note?i love films, and will in fact
be starting a module on philosophy of film next week, and I don't really
understand why its non-academic. surely if you dismiss films from
philosophical debate you are effectively dismissing all aesthetic concerns?
film is a medium whereby many things can be expressed, idealogically and
emotionally, and thats before you go into the aesthetic aspects of the
cinematography and usage of sound and music.
sorry if thats me picking up on a line you didn't really intend to be
analysed, but as i said, i love films, and really dislike any kind of
elitism in philosophy.even if you didn't mean it i think it may be
indicative of a general pretentiousness about philosophical things that i
notice everywhere and really dislike.as i said before, philosophy for me is
a way of looking at the world.nothing is beneath my radar(though many things
are well above it) anyway i may suggest some good films soon, but i can't
really think of any worth mentioning in a purely philosophical light right
now.
