Hi Paul,
I've had a quick look at the archive of one of your recent posts:

And I don't see any extraneous exclamation or question marks. I suspect
it's a unicode mismatch between the mailing system and yours - the same
thing happens if you cut and paste a document from Word to a webpage, for
instance. You get weird exclamation marks and stops for commas because the
codes that represent these marks do not match up between the two schemes.
The good news is that most people reading your posts almost certainly do
not see the weird marks you do.
Email me off list with details of your email client, operating system etc.
