Equality as a principle

The task of a philosopher is to develop an understanding of principles. The
majority of humans -if not all- have an idea about equality, but most of
us, if not all of us, fail to articulate it accurately.
Now the failure to articulate the idea or to observe any manifestation of
the same in nature or in culture for that matter, does not follow that we
should abandon the idea of equality and look elsewhere by articulating some
other concept and presenting it as equality - as Paul did with his concept
of fairness.
Equality is an idea that can only be applied or manifested among humans. On
the other hand one can be fair to another human and also to a fish.
Equality then may be the ideal or Form or a Kind that we all retaining it as
a principle, and fairness, justice, freedom for all, etc are incomplete
manifestations for the idea of equality which we have Formed in our minds.
So we may not have observed absolute or true equality in Nature or in
Culture, it is wise to retain the idea of equality as a principle and as a
guide to our actions concerning fairness, justice, freedom etc.
Cheers
