Was Hitler evil

I think that the film"Downfall" show us that there are no men or women who
are totally evil.
If Hitler was not totally evil, it maybe the case that there are indeed no
such a thing as an evil human being.
On the other hand it is generally accepted that there are evil acts -albeit
on a scale of severity.
Now Hitler's evil actions top the scale of evilness.
Evil acts in wars, killing in the battlefield or even torture are committed
in the false belief that it will change the thinking of certain group of
people- being communists or Islamists or Jews for that matter in the middle
ages, to think like the aggressor and so benefit his people. These were and
still are indeed evil acts.
What sets Hitler apart from the above and puts his evil actions on top of
the scale is his false belief that the benefit to his people will come about
not by changing the thinking of the people of certain ethnic groups, but
from totally exterminating them.
The film, I think, captures this
