Re: "Doing" Epistemology?

In so far as epistemology is the name given to a subject area, doing work (thinking and writing essays) in that area is called 'doing epistemology' - I don't see the problem. The same sort of thing crops up in very normal conversions - "what subjects are you doing this term?" etc. If the insinuation is that it is an odd phrase, i'd say it appears odd because not very many (normal) people do epistemology, and not because of any grammatical peculiarity.
