Warwick rates highly in the Gourment for continental stuff. Though be
aware, I live near it (that in itself is a reason to be aware, perhaps) and
it's geographically Coventry not Warwick.

Dear all,
I have recently completed my philosophy BA degree at The of University
Bolton, and will graduate in February. Looking towards the long-term
future, I would like to return to higher education and do either an MA
or some form of research-based degree. However, I am not in a position
to apply to any universities, at present, because I do not have enough
money to cover my costs; and, to be honest, I do not yet feel that I am
ready for the kind of commitment required for serious attempts at
graduate-level studies.
My situation is such that I am currently seeking employment (wherever I
can find it!) with the aim of returning to post-grad study in a few
years (when I've got money, and had a serious think about where, and for
what, I wish to apply). Unfortunately, I cannot re-apply to Bolton
because they no longer do graduate courses in philosophy that appeal to
me; I must therefore look elsewhere. Currently, my interests relate to
Continental Philosophy; specifically to the philosophies of Heidegger
and Nietzsche. Now I haven't done much scouting yet for suitable MA
courses (mainly because I have been job hunting) but perhaps there are
some here with similar or related interests, who could therefore offer
suggestions?
And on the subject of work, are there any of you who are also planning
to take time out from university life with the aim of returning to
graduate studies? Are there any kinds of jobs you've considered in
which a degree in philosophy might prove useful?
I am open to suggestions, and would be very grateful to hear from anyone
if they think they could offer me advice. I know I haven't been the
most active of contributors to this board, but I do read everything that
is posted, and look forward to each new edition of the BUPS journal.
(Honestly, I don't know how any of you manage to draft papers for a
journal AND juggle your university workloads! It's been a long, hard
struggle for me just to complete my degree -- but the hard work has
paid-off in the end!)
I wish all of you the best in your future studies and careers,
Paul
