One last BUPS-L announcement to go (for today)...

BUPS is still in need of a web officer. The web officer holds a
specialist officer position on the committee, meaning that he/she is
only asked to commit to his/her specific job (the web site/mailing
lists), but may also participate in other society activities
(discussion groups, decisions, conference organisation) on a purely
voluntary basis.

The web officer's job is to keep the web site updated, and to liaise
with our hosting service if things break down (they take care of the
most technical stuff).

Since the web site is already there, the web officer needn't create
anything from scratch, but will rather spend his/her time editing
ready-made templates. So not only is it a fairly simple job, it's
also one you do not need any technical skills for, as we will explain
and train you in how to do anything along the way. In short, if you
can turn on your PC, you're qualified for the position (of course, it
helps if you know a bit of HTML, but we'll be happy to teach you if
you don't).

So if you're interested in learning some new skills, participating in
the societies activities, and having something nice to add to your
CV, please get in touch with the society chair by emailing
chair at bups.org
