[Bups-l] BUPS Summer Conference Accommodation Info

As previously stated, BUPS is not organising accommodation for our  
day conference in Oxford, on June 23rd. This is not (specifically)  
because of the organisational effort involved, but is due to the fact  
that most colleges we've contacted will drive the prices up if we  
book through them as an organisation (which is understandable, as  
most organisations seeking to book colleges for accommodation have a  
budget for this, although it may not seem particularly justified in  
our particular case).

However, if you are considering coming to the conference, and are in  
need of some accommodation, we would like to help you as much as we  
can. As such, we've listed a few addresses of interest below. We  
cannot guarantee that there will be rooms offered at the dates  
surrounding the conference, so please check early to avoid  
disappointment. Of course, we encourage you to try and find your own  
accommodation if you have the time, as you might find something less  
expensive than what we suggest.

First of all, Oxford has quite a few bed and breakfasts. You can find

Shop around, prices may vary (beware: some are very expensive, as  
you'd expect from Oxford).

There are also a few youth hostels around, which may be more student  
budget-friendly:

Some colleges offer rooms as well, although these may be more  
expensive (and of limited availability). Our Oxford contact suggests  
checking with the following colleges:

Standard price is about £45 for one night's bed and breakfast.  
Sometimes self catering is available at a lower price. Beware that  
even though these colleges are all close to the faculty of  
philosophy, some of their accommodation is elsewhere in the city.

Finally, if you really want to save up, you can always pitch up a  
tent in Portmeadow. (We're joking. Really... please don't: I don't  
even know if that'd be legal).
