[Bups-l] Web Officer & Local Advocates Needed

Hi Everyone,
 
If any of you wish to get more involved with BUPS then I have some good news for you since BUPS is looking to recruit people for the following positions:
 
Web Officer
 
The web officer deals mainly with the maintenance of the site. Regular updates are required for news items, conference programmes, and various temporary web-pages related to events we are running. The position also involves making sure we have regular backups of the site handy in case of a server failure, and that our email system is running fine.
 
Some degree of comfort with basic HTML is expected from applicants. Having some idea of how CSS works, and how to FTP into a server are also useful skills, but are not required, as these things will be explained to you if you have any knowledge gapsLocal AdvocatesA local advocate raises awareness of BUPS, the BJUP, BUPS mailing lists, BUPS conferences, and generally generates interest and awareness of BUPS within their university whenever apt. The job would entail being in regular contact with a member of the general committee and, through them, implementing plans to help raise consciousness of the society within your university. 
 
To be a local advocate would not require as much of a commitment as being a member of the general committee, for example, would require. We ask general officers to have 4-5 hours a week spare for BUPS whereas local advocates can except much less than this. This position, then, is the perfect way for those of you busy people with slightly less time to spare to get involved with BUPS. 
 
Both positions are completely voluntary – we can’t offer you any pay. But both also look great on your CV and allow you to work closer with the society. If you have any questions, or would like to take up one of the positions, don’t hesitate take to contact me at chair at bups.org.
