Notice of BUPS Annual Conference 2008 and Call for Papers
The British Undergraduate Philosophy Society is very happy to announce that the BUPS Annual Conference 2008 will be held from Friday 19th – Sunday 21st of September in St Catharine’s College, University of Cambridge.
Our keynote speaker will be Professor Bill Brewer, widely known for his work on the philosophy of mind and perception.
You will have the opportunity to hear and discuss a cross section of undergraduate papers on a variety of topics, selected for their academic excellence and clarity by professional philosophers. The conference is non-profit-making: the cost of registration for the conference and two night’s accommodation with breakfast is 60 UKP. The cost of registration for the conference without accommodation is 20 UKP. An extra night’s bed and breakfast can be purchased for Thursday 18th at the cost of 30 UKP. Call for Papers
Undergraduates at UK or Irish Universities are invited to submit papers of 2,000-2,500 words (15-20 minutes reading time).
Papers should be:
. carefully structured and clearly written
. argumentative rather than merely descriptive
Your audience will be fellow undergraduates: expect discussion to be focused, but relaxed and friendly. Papers should be submitted via email to submit at bups.org and should be prepared for blind review with a separate cover sheet giving name, affiliation, contact details and paper title. The deadline for submission is Sunday August 17th at 5pm. Authors who make the short list are expected to be reachable after this date. Submission enquiries to info at bups.org.
